⚠️ Before you cancel — 4 things that catch people out

1. If you signed up through the App Store, Google Play or Amazon, cancelling on Audible's own site does nothing

This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged after they thought they cancelled. When a third party does the billing, only that third party can stop it — cancel in your iPhone/iPad Settings → your name → Subscriptions, in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions, or in Amazon under Memberships & Subscriptions. Check which one is charging you on your bank statement: the merchant name tells you who to cancel with.

2. You usually keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for

Cancelling normally stops the next payment rather than cutting you off immediately, so there is no benefit to waiting until the last day — and waiting is how people accidentally get billed for another month. Cancel as soon as you have decided. If you are on a minimum-term or contract plan, leaving early can carry a fee, which is the one case worth checking before you click.

3. A retention offer is not a cancellation

Most services put one or more "are you sure?" screens, discounts or pause options in the way. Clicking a discount keeps you subscribed at a lower price. If you actually want out, keep going until you see an explicit confirmation that the subscription has ended.

4. No confirmation means it probably did not go through

Look for an on-screen confirmation and an email. Keep it — it is what you need if a charge appears anyway. Then check your next statement: the only proof a cancellation worked is a payment that does not arrive.
